Role Summary

As Sous Chef, you will support the Head Chef in delivering high-quality food and service while supervising the kitchen team. You’ll play a key role in menu development, food preparation, hygiene compliance, and team training. This is an excellent opportunity for a talented and ambitious chef to progress their career in a busy, well-regarded hotel kitchen.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise kitchen staff in the absence of the Head Chef

  • Oversee preparation, presentation, and quality control of all food in designated areas

  • Implement and monitor HACCP procedures, ensuring compliance and documentation

  • Uphold and improve high culinary standards in line with company expectations

  • Assist in menu planning, costing, and development of seasonal offerings

  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing training of kitchen staff

  • Create and maintain departmental SOPs and ensure consistent implementation

  • Delegate daily kitchen tasks effectively to maximise output and efficiency

  • Liaise with suppliers and manage ordering of food and stock levels

  • Ensure kitchen operates in compliance with health and safety regulations

  • Be aware of daily business levels and collaborate with other departments

Candidate Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as Sous Chef or in a similar senior kitchen role, preferably in a 4-star hotel setting

  • HACCP trained with a strong understanding of food safety standards

  • Proven ability to lead and motivate a team in a high-pressure environment

  • Strong culinary skills and passion for quality and innovation

  • Professional appearance and excellent work ethic

  • Flexibility to work varying shifts, including evenings and weekends
