Our client, a renowned catering company in Cork, is seeking a skilled and experienced Sous Chef to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity for a chef who excels in high-volume catering, providing exceptional service for GAA clubs, private events, concerts, dinner parties, and other functions. The role demands strong organizational skills, flexibility, and the ability to thrive under pressure during busy periods.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in planning, preparing, and executing catering services for a variety of large-scale events, including sporting clubs, private functions, and concerts.
- Manage kitchen operations efficiently and ensure quality standards are maintained at all times.
- Supervise kitchen staff, ensuring seamless coordination and delivery of high-volume meals.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, food hygiene standards, and company policies.
- Adapt to varying schedules, including working longer hours or adjusting to evening shifts during events and peak periods.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef in a catering environment, particularly with high-volume event catering.
- Strong ability to work under pressure and handle busy periods with efficiency and composure.
- Flexibility with working hours, including availability for overtime during peak seasons (October to May).
- Willingness to work a rotating 5-over-7 schedule, with standard shifts from 7am to 4pm or 12pm to 8:30pm.
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices, with a commitment to maintaining high standards.
