As the company grows and expands its operations, they are looking for a skilled and driven Deputy Manager to join the team and contribute to its continued success.

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Deputy Manager to assist the store manager in monitoring the daily operations of the retail store. As Deputy Manager, you will be responsible for guiding the team, increasing sales, providing excellent customer service, and guaranteeing the store’s overall success. This is an excellent opportunity for a retail professional with strong leadership abilities and a passion for the DIY, Home & Garden sectors.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the store manager in overseeing all areas of the business, such as sales, customer service, inventory control, and employee supervision
  • Lead and motivate a team, providing advice, training, and support to accomplish sales targets and offer excellent customer experiences
  • Ensure that the store and all of its departments are well-maintained, organized, and visually appealing, adhering to company merchandising standards and guidelines
  • Monitor sales performance, analyse trends, and implement plans to drive business growth and maximise profits
  • Collaborate with the store manager to develop and implement sales plans, promotions, and marketing initiatives that attract and maintain consumers
  • Handle customer inquiries, resolve issues and complaints, authorise and handle refunds and exchanges, and ensure a positive shopping experience for all customers
  • Provide support at regular staff meetings, performance assessments, and coaching sessions to increase team productivity and effectiveness
  • Assist in recruiting, hiring, and training new team members, ensuring they have the knowledge and skills to thrive in their roles
  • Assist the store management team in optimising payroll and headcount budgets
  • Uphold company policies and procedures, including health and safety regulations, security protocols, and compliance requirements

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a retail leadership role, preferably in the DIY, Home & Garden or related industry
  • Proven track record of leading and developing a team
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team to achieve goals and deliver excellent customer service
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate messages clearly, interpersonal, and organizational abilities
  • Experience and proven track record of working with company objectives and targets
  • Knowledge of retail operations, including sales techniques, inventory management, and merchandising principles
  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required
  • Passion for the DIY, Home & Garden industry and a commitment to delivering an exceptional shopping experience for customers
