Role Title: Onsite Quantity Surveyor

Location: Dublin

Start Date: As soon as possible

Role Purpose

To support the commercial performance of projects and profitable growth of the business. The Quantity Surveyor provides sufficient evidence to support payment claims against project targets, monitoring and reporting on the progress of projects commercially.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Adhere to and maintain compliance with all Health and Safety procedures within your work. Ensuring you are responsible for yourself and/or team members who report into you
  • To assist with P&L responsibility for projects whilst working within the delegated levels of authority issued by the contract manager
  • Support estimating and tender preparation then use the costing information as a basis for monitoring performance against pre-determined costs etc
  • Provide assistance with project planning functions, help define project budget and pricing additional works / variations to contract
  • To help determine client requirements, assess and compare options available and ensure designs meet budget and legal / quality standards
  • Aid in the preparation of cost plans, estimates and cash flow projections, supporting procurement activities, advising on packaging and bills of quantity etc
  • Co-ordinate with commercial managers with format & content of contractual correspondence
  • Help prepare for final account meetings to resolve major accounts for measured work, loss and expense claims or contra charges, assisting the commercial position of the business and ensuring it is fully protected at all times. To carry out labour target and incentive payment calculations
  • Carry out feasibility studies, and risk / value management exercises, identifying and escalating commercial problems to the contract manager
  • Calculate and agree monthly valuations with clients, generate invoices and assist credit control with any delayed payments
  • To support the reporting of clear and accountable work in progress (WIP) with controls and measures that support the monitoring of performance against tender and contract valuations
  • Ensure all costs are checked and, where necessary, inaccuracies reported to the senior quantity surveyor and/or contract manager

Person Specification

Education/Qualifications

  • Related Degree level qualification (Level 8)

Experience

  • 5 Year + Commercial and financial experience within Civil and Utilities projects
  • Knowledge/Experience of various contract types and the legal framework

Skills & Competencies (evidence of)

Technical

  • Ability to understand specifications, tender documents, technical drawings and bills of quantity etc
  • Excellent analytical, numeric and IT skills with good attention to detail

Interpersonal

  • Excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills required: strong written and verbal communication skills
