Horticulturalist – Limerick

Job description

Noel Group is looking for a knowledgeable and passionate horticulturalist to help maintain and enhance the garden centre’s operations. Our client is a market-leading home and garden retailer known for its extensive range of products and exceptional customer service.

As a horticulturist, you will be responsible for the care and maintenance of plant stock, providing expert advice to customers, and contributing to the overall success of the garden centre. Your role will involve a mix of hands-on plant care, customer interaction, and team collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain the health and appearance of plants by watering, pruning, fertilizing, and repotting as necessary.
• Monitor plants for signs of disease or pests and take appropriate action to address any issues.
• Support the delivery of the store budget for each period and meet budgeted sales and waste targets.
• Assist customers with their gardening needs, providing expert advice on plant selection, care, and maintenance, and addressing inquiries about gardening products and techniques.
• Receive, unpack, display new plant deliveries, monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering new stock as needed.
• Assist in setting up and maintaining attractive displays and promotional areas, ensure all plants and gardening products are accurately labelled and priced.
• Assist with training new staff on plant care and customer service.

Qualifications:

• A degree or certification in horticulture, botany, and/or previous experience working in a garden centre or similar environment.
• Strong knowledge of plants, gardening techniques, and pest management.
• Experience managing and monitoring annual budgets.
• Independent decision-making and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
