Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist
The EHS Specialist plays a vital role in supporting the implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of my client’s Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) systems. This role ensures compliance with all applicable legal, regulatory, and industry standards across the company’s operations. Great position for someone with chemical experience.
Responsibilities
- Support the rollout, documentation, and ongoing maintenance of the Safety Management System across all sites.
- Regularly review and update the Safety Statement, SMS documents, and procedures to reflect current business needs and regulatory requirements.
- Provide expert guidance on compliance with chemical regulations such as REACH, CLP, ADR, COMAH, and the Chemical Agents Regulations.
- Implement, maintain, and improve the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.
- Conduct regular environmental audits and monitor follow-up actions, recommending improvements to support sustainability goals.
- Act as a member of the Crisis Management Team when EHS expertise is required.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Environmental Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related field. A postgraduate qualification in EHS is preferred if the primary degree is not EHS-specific.
- 2-5 years of relevant experience in EHS roles.
- Background in highly regulated industries such as chemicals, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, logistics, food, waste, or semiconductors is preferred.
- Experience implementing and maintaining EHS management systems (e.g., ISO 14001, ISO 45001/OHSAS 18001).
