Job Title: Deli Assistant

Role Overview

A Deli Assistant plays a key role in the daily operations of a deli counter, ensuring customers receive high-quality service and fresh food products. This position involves preparing, packaging, and serving deli items while maintaining cleanliness and adhering to food safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve deli products such as meats, cheeses, salads, and sandwiches
  • Slice, weigh, and package items according to customer requests
  • Assist customers with product selection and provide recommendations
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the deli area, including equipment and display cases
  • Restock supplies and ensure displays are attractive and well-stocked
  • Operate deli equipment safely and efficiently
  • Label products accurately with prices and descriptions
  • Dispose of waste properly and follow hygiene protocols
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations

Skills & Qualifications

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Attention to detail and commitment to food safety
  • Basic math skills for weighing and pricing products
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends
  • Previous experience in food service or retail is a plus (but not always required)
