Checkout Manager

Job description

Our client industry leader in grocery stores is looking for a motivated and experienced Checkout Manager to oversee checkout operations and guarantee highest standards of customer experience. As Checkout Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining high levels of service, supervising checkout staff, and optimizing checkout operations to improve customers’ overall shopping experience.

42hr contract / 5 days over 7 work schedule

Responsibilities:

• Oversee all aspects of the checkout area, including staffing, scheduling, and performance management
• Train and mentor new staff to ensue that company’s policies and procedures are followed
• Troubleshoot and fix any errors or irregularities associated with cash handling, pricing, or product scanning
• Keeping checkout points clean, orderly, and stocked with basic supplies like shopping bags and until rolls
• Responding to customer complaints and referring issues to a Store Manager or Department Manager when necessary
• Manage online ordering platform operations
• Organize pickers for completing online orders in timely manner – collect and prepare for delivery
• Manage delivery drivers to ensure that deliveries are completed at the arranged time slots in a most efficient manner

Requirements:

• Previous experience as a supervisor or manager in the retail industry, ideally in a checkout or cash handling environment
• Basic PC/technical skills required
• Strong leadership and communication skills. Previous record of people management skills
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with a customer-focused approach
• Proficient in cash handling operations, such as balancing cash drawers, processing refunds, and detecting counterfeit currency
• Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays (weekend/evening shifts on rotation)
