Banqueting Sous Chef – Award-Winning Castle Estate Hotel
Location: Roscommon, County Roscommon
Salary: €36,000 – €38,000 per annum
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Banqueting Sous Chef to join the culinary team at a prestigious, award-winning castle estate hotel and spa in County Roscommon. This unique venue offers a stunning setting and exceptional service to guests, and we are looking for a passionate and experienced Sous Chef to help deliver high-quality banqueting experiences.

About the Role

As Banqueting Sous Chef, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and managing the day-to-day operations of the kitchen. This role provides an excellent work-life balance, with a combination of day shifts and late shifts, offering greater flexibility for the right candidate. You will work closely with the Banqueting Head Chef to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of food production, while maintaining the high standards of quality, presentation, and service that the hotel is known for.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the banqueting kitchen, ensuring smooth food production and service.

  • Oversee food quality, presentation, and portion control, ensuring consistency with the hotel’s high standards.

  • Assist with food purchasing, stock control, and inventory management to maintain cost-effective operations.

  • Support the Banqueting Head Chef in mentoring and training the kitchen team, ensuring a positive and professional working environment.

  • Uphold the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety in compliance with health and safety regulations.

  • Contribute to performance monitoring, cost control, waste management, and profitability of the kitchen.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar role within a high-quality banqueting environment.

  • Passionate about using fresh, locally sourced ingredients to create innovative and unique dishes.

  • Strong communication, organisational, and leadership skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment without compromising on attention to detail.

  • Flexibility to work a combination of day and evening shifts, including weekends.
