Job Title: Senior Data Analyst – Library Statistics
Location: Dublin Area
Contract Duration: 6 months
Salary: €56,754 per annum
Annual Leave: 30 days pro rata
Quick Summary
Our Client is seeking a skilled Senior Data Analyst to support the Data Dashboard Project in the context of Ireland’s national library strategy, The Library is the Place. The primary responsibility of the role is to review and improve the quality and accuracy of six large datasets from 2019-2024, ensuring data integrity for future stages of the project. This is a fixed-term position for six months.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Cleaning: Identify and resolve errors, inconsistencies, duplicates, and missing values in large datasets through visual inspection, automation, and collaboration with stakeholders.
- Data Quality Assurance: Validate data accuracy, integrity, and consistency, using domain expert review and end-user validation. Develop data validation scripts to increase process efficiency.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate closely with staff from the LGMA Libraries Development Unit, Libraries of Ireland, and other stakeholders to address data quality issues and ensure compliance with LGMA standards.
- Process Improvement: Provide feedback and recommendations for improving upstream data collection and cleansing practices. Identify ways to enhance data accuracy and reduce manual effort.
- Metadata and Documentation: Build metadata for datasets, including data dictionaries and catalogues. Document data cleaning workflows and procedures to maintain consistency.
- Communication: Define detailed schedules for data-related tasks, providing regular updates to managers and stakeholders. Conduct user tests and quality assessments with stakeholders regularly.
Skills & Experience Required
- Education: Primary degree or Master’s in a quantitative discipline (Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, etc.) or equivalent professional training.
- Experience: 6+ years of professional experience in data analysis, data wrangling, management, and quality assessment.
- Proficiency: Strong experience with SQL (RDBMS), Excel (functions/macros/DAX), and data management tools.
- Data Validation: Experience developing or using data validation scripts and data profiling tools.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Project Management: Strong project management, time management, and reporting skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to Detail: Strong analytical skills with an emphasis on data accuracy and precision.
- Flexibility: Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an Agile development environment.
- Language Proficiency: Fluency in written and spoken English.
Desirable Skills & Qualifications
- GDPR Compliance: Experience with data protection and GDPR compliance.
- BI/Visualization Tools: Familiarity with business intelligence (BI) and data visualization tools.
- Software Development: Experience in software development (Python, R, PHP, JavaScript, etc.).
- Statistical Analysis: Knowledge of statistical analysis techniques (descriptive, exploratory, etc.).
- Local Government Knowledge: Understanding of local government operations and IT systems used in the public sector.
