Senior Site Engineer | Established Head Contractor

Location: [Dublin / Cork / Regional] Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Our client is an established Head Contractor with a stellar reputation for delivering high-quality commercial and residential projects across Ireland. Known for their technical excellence and professional approach, they are seeking an experienced Senior Site Engineer to lead on-site operations and ensure the seamless transition from design to completion.

This is a key role for a proactive engineer who thrives on a mix of technical surveying, subcontractor management, and high-level project coordination.

Key Activities

  • On-Site Management: Oversee day-to-day activities, ensuring all work aligns with project plans, schedules, and technical specifications.
  • Engineering Accuracy: Set out site works using robotic total stations, GPS, and surveying tools. Interpret drawings and address technical challenges or design changes promptly.
  • Subcontractor Coordination: Supervise trades and subcontractors, managing plant, labor, and materials to maintain peak workflow efficiency.
  • Quality & Compliance: Conduct rigorous inspections to ensure construction adheres to technical drawings, Irish building regulations, and project standards.
  • Safety Leadership: Manage site inductions, toolbox talks, and risk assessments to maintain a gold-standard safety culture.
  • Stakeholder Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact for clients, consultants, and regulatory authorities, providing detailed progress updates to the Project Manager.

Education & Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 5+ years of experience in the construction industry, with a proven track record on medium-to-large scale projects.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Project, and modern surveying equipment.
  • Competencies: Strong problem-solving abilities, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work under pressure while maintaining high attention to detail.
