Senior Executive Officer (IT)
Location: Dublin
Salary: €60,029 per annum
Contract – Temporary (3 months initially)
- The postholder will be central to the implementation of the our client’s IT Strategy and the delivery of a number of new systems within the Organisation.
- The successful candidate will have significant experience in infrastructure delivery, ICT service delivery, and fault resolution, and will provide backup for colleagues within the ICT team.
- The successful candidate will have a working knowledge of both bespoke and commercially available products deployed across various technology platforms.
- The individual needs to be highly customer focused, with good vendor management abilities and a commitment to delivering change and achieving results.
- This highly operational role involves the end-to-end management of the Organisation’s cloud-based server infrastructure, from design through to implementation and ongoing support and maintenance in line with current best practices.
- The role has responsibility for ensuring that all elements of the Organisation’s enterprise suite of tools are deployed and supported in accordance with best practice and are updated/replaced as the industry evolves.
- This role has a high emphasis on best practice relating to information security, including deployment of appropriate threat detection tools and ensuring that the Organisation’s data resources are protected at all times, including appropriate data backup and restoration techniques.
- The role will have responsibility for the delivery of services through the Organisation’s infrastructure estate such as local area networks, routing, firewall, telephony and teleconferencing services, and desktop computing services.
- The successful candidate should maintain a watching brief on industry trends and will have the opportunity to shape and evolve existing services as new technologies emerge.
- End-user support and making recommendations relating to training.
- Management of staff and contractors.
- While the IT Manager (Infrastructure) will not have day-to-day involvement with the management of the statistical databases (responsibility of the Senior Database Manager), they will work closely with the Senior Database Manager on relevant matters, particularly relating to information security.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- A qualification at minimum Level 8 in the National Framework of Qualifications; a qualification in Computer Science or equivalent would be highly desirable but is not essential, having regard to substantial and relevant experience.
- A minimum of five years’ work in an IT role with similar experience.
- Understanding of IT procurement requirements and experience in managing IT consultants.
- Strong knowledge of networking, switching, and routing.
- Strong experience in all aspects relating to IT security including firewall, anti-virus technology, and data backup and restoration.
- Experience in end-user support.
- Some knowledge of GDPR would be an advantage.
- Experience in maintaining websites desirable.
- Experience in managing databases, including a CRM system.
- Experience in Microsoft Teams and cloud-based telephone systems desirable.
- Experience in managing cloud-based infrastructure including Microsoft Azure, M365, Dynamics, SharePoint, and AWS.
- Experience in managing databases including Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle.
- Experience in managing local area networks.
- Experience in administration of Microsoft Servers, Linux Servers, and virtualisation, including associated security measures.
