We are delighted to be recruiting for a head chef in Cavan. As Head Chef, you will oversee all aspects of kitchen operations, including menu planning, food preparation, staff management, and maintaining high culinary standards. This chef is supported by a great team within the kitchen and has support from the executive head chef also. You will be responsible for ensuring smooth kitchen service on event days, and adhering to food safety regulations. As part of the team you will be involved in effective team management, maintaining low food and wastage percentages and ensuring a superior gastronomic experience for our guests.

Head Chef Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the serving of consistent, quality culinary dishes, excellent presentation, in a timely manner
  • Ensure that no problems arise during service; any, should be rectified quickly with minimal fuss or delay.
  • Approve all foods before they leave the kitchen
  • Forecast supply needs and estimate costs
  • Involvement in Recruitment of kitchen staff
  • Ensure efficiency and productivity of the kitchen and staff.
  • Perform accounting functions and scheduling of meals to be served
  • Ensure that the food servicing facility meets all necessary standards and regulations such as sanitary and safety guidelines and complete relevant documentation re same
  • Create recipes and prepare advanced items for team familiarisation
  • Assign tasks that are less complicated to lower kitchen staff
  • Ensure proper equipment maintenance and operations
  • Oversee special catering events and where necessary offer culinary instruction and demonstrate techniques
  • Supervise kitchen personnel, manage their performance, delegate duties and maintain excellent communications with the team
  • Ordering of food from designated suppliers using procure wizard systems
  • Organise duty roster for kitchen staff with emphasis on controlling and monitoring payroll costs
  • Overall responsibility for the kitchen’s daily operations.
  • Maintaining/raising the food’s profit margins for your employer.
  • Ensuring correct stock rotation procedures are followed.
  • Ensuring compliance and Implementation of all relevant health and safety measures & all HACCP procedures in the kitchen and ensuring all kitchen staff are appropriately trained in same.
