Job Title: Deputy Steel Yard & Warehouse Supervisor
Location: Cork City
Contract Type: Full-Time | Permanent
Salary: €40,000 – €45,000 (DOE)
Days and Hours of Work: Monday – Friday 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM (Flexibility requiered)
About the Opportunity
Our client is a well-established and growing organisation operating within the steel and industrial distribution sector. Due to continued expansion, they are seeking to appoint a Deputy Steel Yard & Warehouse Supervisor to join their operations team in Cork.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious individual looking to develop their career within warehouse and yard operations. Working alongside an experienced supervisor, the successful candidate will gain exposure to all aspects of the operation and have the opportunity to progress into a more senior leadership role over time.
The ideal candidate will be hands-on, reliable, hardworking, and eager to learn. Previous supervisory experience would be beneficial but is not essential, as attitude, commitment, and potential for development are highly valued.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Team Support
- Support the day-to-day running of the steel yard and warehouse operations.
- Assist with planning and coordinating inbound and outbound loads.
- Support the efficient receipt, storage, movement, and dispatch of materials.
- Liaise with logistics and transport providers regarding deliveries and collections.
- Ensure customer orders are prepared and fulfilled accurately and on time.
- Help prioritise daily operational activities to meet changing business requirements.
Stock Control & Systems
- Ensure all incoming goods are accurately received and recorded.
- Report any discrepancies, damages, or quality concerns.
- Maintain accurate stock records using the company’s ERP/Warehouse Management System.
- Assist with stock control activities, cycle counts, and stock audits.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Promote a strong health and safety culture across the warehouse and yard.
- Ensure operational activities comply with company procedures and relevant legislation.
- Operate material handling equipment, including forklifts and overhead cranes, where trained and authorised.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and service levels.
- Support initiatives to improve order accuracy and productivity.
- Contribute practical solutions to operational challenges.
- Assist with the implementation of improved processes and procedures.

- Full clean driving licence.
- Flexibility to work overtime when required to support operational demands.
Desirable Experience
- Experience within a warehouse, steel yard, distribution, manufacturing, or similar environment.
- Experience handling steel products or other heavy materials.
- Previous supervisory or team leadership experience.
- Forklift certification and/or operating experience.
- Experience with multi-directional forklifts.
- Experience using overhead cranes.
- Experience working with ERP or warehouse management systems.
