Clerical Officer

Location: Athlone
Hours: 35 hours per week
Duration: Immediate Start – 1 month

Role Overview

Our client is currently seeking a Clerical Officer to support a busy reception and administrative office environment. The successful candidate will act as the first point of contact for visitors, staff, and external stakeholders while providing a high standard of administrative support and customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a busy reception desk and greet visitors professionally
  • Handle incoming phone calls, emails, and general enquiries
  • Provide administrative and clerical support to the wider team
  • Maintain accurate electronic and paper filing systems
  • Input and update records and databases
  • Assist with scheduling meetings and managing calendars where required
  • Support document preparation, scanning, filing, and data entry tasks
  • Ensure confidentiality and compliance with GDPR procedures
  • Provide flexible support across departments as required

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a busy reception or administrative environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to multitask
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams
  • Professional, friendly, and customer-focused manner
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail and confidentiality awareness

Additional Information

  • 35 hours per week
  • Immediate start available
  • Public sector experience advantageous but not essential
