Butcher Department Manager
Location: Balbriggan, Co. Dublin
Salary: €40,000 – €43,000 per annum
Hours: Full-time, average 45 hours per week (5 days over 7, including weekends and public holidays)
We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client, a busy and well-established supermarket in Balbriggan, for an experienced Butcher Department Manager to lead their meat department team. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled and motivated butcher with a passion for fresh food, quality, and customer service to further their career within a dynamic retail environment.
The Role:
The successful candidate will oversee the day-to-day operations of a busy butchery department, ensuring high standards in product quality, presentation, and customer care. You will manage and support your team to deliver excellent service and maintain compliance with all food safety and hygiene regulations.
Key Responsibilities:

Manage the daily operations of the Butcher/Meat Department.

Supervise and support the butchery team to ensure smooth day-to-day running.

Oversee stock control, stocktaking, and ordering.

Ensure all HACCP and food safety standards are maintained.

Prepare products for both the serve-over counter and pre-pack section.

Support product range development in collaboration with management.

Ensure the highest quality products are presented at all times.

Provide exceptional customer service at the counter.

Train, develop, and roster team members effectively.

Drive sales and maintain department profitability.
Candidate Requirements:
-
Fully qualified butcher with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a management role within a busy butchery or meat department.

HACCP trained and fully familiar with all legislation related to the sale of fresh meat and food.

Experienced in training and mentoring junior or new staff.

Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.

Strong customer service focus with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Team player with the ability to also work on own initiative.

Fluent English (written and spoken).

Flexibility for early starts and weekend work.
