Our public sector client is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Assistant Principal Officer (Data Analytics & Housing Delivery) to join a key function supporting the delivery of national housing priorities. This is an exciting opportunity for a data-driven professional to contribute to high-impact projects, working at the intersection of data analytics, ICT systems, and public policy delivery.

The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting data and technology initiatives that monitor housing delivery targets, improve reporting capabilities, and enable evidence-based decision-making across multiple stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain automated data pipelines from multiple data sources into centralised repositories.
  • Manage data collection, validation, cleansing, transformation, and integration processes.
  • Analyse strategically important housing delivery data and produce meaningful insights to support planning and reporting.
  • Develop innovative dashboards, reports, and visualisations to track housing delivery progress and performance.
  • Identify opportunities to improve reporting efficiencies, data quality, and analytical processes.
  • Support the implementation of solution monitoring processes, including performance optimisation, error handling, and system health checks.
  • Provide technical support for business applications and data systems.
  • Maintain comprehensive technical documentation for developed solutions and processes.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure data integrity, governance, and effective information sharing.
  • Contribute to the development of long-term data strategies and ICT projects supporting housing delivery initiatives.

Requirements

Essential

  • Degree or Master’s qualification in a quantitative discipline such as:

    • Data Science
    • Computer Science
    • Mathematics
    • Engineering
    • Physics
    • Or a related field
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a Data Analytics, Data Engineering, Business Intelligence, or related technical role.

  • Demonstrated experience in:

    • Data management and analytics projects
    • Business intelligence and reporting solutions
    • Systems implementation and support
    • Data pipeline development and automation
  • Strong knowledge of:

    • Microsoft SQL Server
    • Database design, development, and administration
    • Data management tools and methodologies
    • Business Intelligence and visualisation platforms such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar

Technical Skills

Experience with one or more of the following technologies:

  • SQL
  • Python
  • R
  • JavaScript
  • C#
  • .NET
  • Angular
  • Git
  • DevOps
  • Web application development

Desirable Experience

  • Application of statistical and analytical techniques including descriptive, exploratory, diagnostic, predictive, or prescriptive analytics.
  • Experience working with large and complex datasets.
  • Knowledge of systems architecture and software engineering practices.
  • Experience delivering end-to-end data and technology solutions in a large organisation.
  • Public sector or regulatory environment experience would be advantageous.
