Assistant Principal – Data Officer
Duration: 3-Month Fixed-Term Contract
Location: Dublin 4 (Hybrid working arrangements available)
Salary: €83,113 per annum (pro-rated for the duration of the contract)
Start Date: As soon as possible
Working Hours: Full-time (35 hours per week)
About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Assistant Principal – Data Officer to join their team on a six-month fixed-term basis. Reporting within the organisation’s governance framework, the successful candidate will play a key role in supporting data protection compliance, information governance, and risk management activities.
This position offers an excellent opportunity to work closely with stakeholders across the organisation, providing expert guidance on data protection requirements and promoting best practice in the management of personal data.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with internal stakeholders to provide guidance and constructive challenge on projects and new initiatives, ensuring data risks and regulatory requirements are appropriately managed.
- Act as a delegate for the Data Protection Officer (DPO) when required.
- Provide advice and support in the completion of Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs).
- Support incident management and data breach response activities.
- Manage and respond to data subject rights requests.
- Support file management and administrative activities relating to data protection compliance.
- Maintain and update the Record of Processing Activities (ROPA).
- Manage the Data Protection mailbox, responding to business-as-usual queries from internal and external stakeholders.
- Assist in the development, review, and maintenance of data protection policies, procedures, and guidance documentation.
Essential Requirements
The successful candidate will have:
- A minimum of five years’ experience in a data protection, privacy, or information governance role.
- A recognised data protection qualification.
- Excellent knowledge of GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
- The ability to interpret regulatory requirements and translate them into practical, business-focused advice.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Experience identifying, assessing, and advising on data protection and information governance risks.
- A practical, solution-focused approach to problem-solving and delivering outcomes.
