The Assistant Financial Controller will support the Financial Controller in overseeing the financial operations of the hotel. This role will ensure accurate financial reporting, compliance with local regulations, and effective internal controls. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance and accounting within the hospitality industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Review and analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement.
  • Support the Financial Controller in the development and management of the hotel’s annual budget.
  • Assist in preparing financial forecasts and provide insights on financial performance.
  • Monitor and report on budget variances and recommend corrective actions.
  • Assist in maintaining and improving the internal control environment to safeguard hotel assets.
  • Conduct regular audits and reviews to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Identify and mitigate financial risks through effective internal controls.
  • Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and general ledger accounts.
  • Manage the hotel’s cash flow and ensure sufficient liquidity for operational needs.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Assist in coordinating and preparing for external audits.
  • Keep abreast of changes in financial regulations and standards.
  • Support and mentor finance team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Assist in developing training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of the finance team.
  • Act as a point of contact for other departments regarding financial matters.
  • Assist in the maintenance and improvement of financial management systems.
  • Ensure data integrity and accuracy within financial systems.
  • Identify opportunities for process automation and system enhancements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field. CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in financial management, preferably within the hospitality industry.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
  • Proficiency in financial management software and MS Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
