Our client, a leading public sector organisation, is seeking an experienced Assistant Principal Officer (AP) – Business Analyst to join their team on a contract basis until the end of the year. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled business analysis professional to contribute to high-profile projects, support strategic initiatives, and work closely with senior stakeholders in a complex and evolving environment.
The successful candidate will play a key role in gathering and analysing business requirements, driving process improvements, supporting project delivery, and providing strategic insights to inform decision-making across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead business analysis activities across multiple projects and workstreams.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to gather, document, and validate business requirements.
- Analyse business processes and identify opportunities for improvement, efficiency, and innovation.
- Develop clear business cases, reports, recommendations, and supporting documentation.
- Support the delivery of organisational change and transformation initiatives.
- Monitor project progress and assist with risk identification and mitigation.
- Produce meaningful management information, reports, and performance metrics.
- Facilitate workshops, stakeholder meetings, and business process reviews.
- Collaborate with technical teams to support the design and delivery of solutions.
- Ensure projects and initiatives align with organisational objectives and public sector governance requirements.
Requirements
Essential
- Relevant third-level qualification in Business, Information Systems, Project Management, Public Administration, Data Analytics, or a related discipline.
- Significant experience in a Business Analyst, Project Analyst, Programme Support, or related role.
- Demonstrated experience gathering and documenting business requirements.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
- Experience preparing reports, business cases, briefing papers, and recommendations for senior management.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced environment.
Desirable
- Experience working within the Public Sector, Government, Regulatory, or Semi-State environment.
- Knowledge of project management methodologies.
- Experience supporting digital transformation, process improvement, or organisational change programmes.
- Familiarity with data analysis, reporting, and performance monitoring frameworks.
