Job Title: Warehouse & Distribution Manager
Location: Cork Full-Time
Contract Type: Full-time Permanent
Salary: €55,000 – €65,000 per year (DOE)
Days and Hours of Work: Monday – Friday 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM (Flexibility requiered)
About the Opportunity
Our client is a leading Irish wholesale and distribution business with a strong national presence and a reputation for operational excellence. Due to continued growth and investment in their supply chain operations, they are seeking an experienced Warehouse & Distribution Manager to lead a busy warehouse and distribution function based in Cork.
Reporting to senior leadership, this is a key role responsible for driving operational performance, service delivery, health & safety, inventory accuracy, and continuous improvement across a fast-paced distribution environment.
The successful candidate will be a hands-on leader with strong warehouse management experience, excellent people management skills, and a proven track record of delivering high operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Lead and manage all day-to-day warehouse operations, including goods-in, put- away, replenishment, picking, packing, and dispatch.
- Manage inbound deliveries from domestic and international suppliers.
- Optimise warehouse layouts, storage solutions, and material flow processes.
- Drive productivity, efficiency, and service performance throughout the operation.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, motivate, and develop warehouse supervisors, operatives, and support staff.
- Manage workforce planning, attendance, and resource allocation.
- Develop team capabilities through coaching, training, and performance management.
- Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Promote strong collaboration across operations, logistics, procurement, and customer-facing teams.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with all health and safety legislation and company procedures.
- Conduct risk assessments, audits, inspections, and incident investigations.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to continuously improve workplace safety standards.
Stock & Inventory Management
- Maintain high stock accuracy through robust inventory control processes.
- Investigate and resolve stock discrepancies and operational variances.
- Work collaboratively with commercial and inventory teams to optimise stock holdings.
Distribution & Service Performance
- Drive On-Time In-Full (OTIF) performance across all delivery channels.
- Collaborate with transport providers and distribution partners to ensure efficient service delivery.
- Identify opportunities to improve delivery performance, service levels, and distribution costs.
Systems & Continuous Improvement
- Develop and monitor operational KPIs and performance dashboards.
- Analyse performance data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
- Lead projects focused on operational excellence, process enhancement, and cost reduction.
Candidate Profile
Essential Experience
- Proven experience managing warehouse, logistics, or distribution centre operations.
- Thorough understanding of warehousing, fulfilment, inventory control, and distribution activities.
- Strong knowledge of warehouse health and safety requirements.
- Experience working with ERP, WMS, or similar operational systems.
- Track record of delivering operational improvements and service enhancements.
Desirable Experience
- Experience within wholesale distribution, industrial products, building materials, manufacturing, or related sectors.
- Experience managing large product ranges and heavy or bulky goods.
- Exposure to Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies.
