Job Title

Clerical Officer – Finance Department (North Dublin)

Temporary Position / Full Time (35 hrs a week)

Overview

Our client is seeking a Clerical Officer to provide effective administrative and financial support within the Finance Department. The role will involve processing financial transactions, maintaining accurate records, supporting budgetary and reporting requirements, and ensuring compliance with public sector financial procedures. The successful candidate will be organised, detail-oriented, and capable of working in a busy office environment.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide clerical and administrative support to the Finance Department
  • Process invoices, purchase orders, payments, and expense claims in line with public sector financial procedures
  • Assist with data entry, reconciliations, and maintenance of financial records and databases
  • Support budget monitoring, reporting, and audit preparation as required
  • Respond to internal and external finance-related queries in a professional manner
  • Maintain accurate filing systems (electronic and manual)
  • Use financial and administrative systems, including Microsoft Office applications
  • Adhere to policies, procedures, and governance requirements
  • Carry out any other duties appropriate to the grade as assigned

Essential Requirements

  • Good standard of general education
  • Strong administrative and organisational skills
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage routine tasks and meet deadlines
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Competence in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team

Desirable Requirements

  • Previous experience in a finance or accounts-related role
  • Experience working in the public sector or education sector
  • Familiarity with financial systems and procedures
  • Knowledge of public sector financial governance and controls
