Checkout Supervisor | Retail Grocery | North County Dublin

Salary: €35,000 per annum

We are currently recruiting an experienced Checkout Supervisor to join a busy supermarket in North County Dublin on a full-time basis. This role is ideal for a hands-on retail professional with strong supervisory experience and a passion for delivering excellent customer service.

The Role:

This is a full-time position working an average of 42.5 hours per week, 5 days over 7, including weekends and public holidays. The role may evolve to include 3 days supervising the checkout operation and 2 days supporting HR/Admin functions, depending on business needs.

Main Duties:

  • Day-to-day supervision of a busy checkout department

  • Supporting and supervising a team of 8-10 checkout staff during shifts

  • Assisting with rostering for a wider checkout team of approximately 25 staff

  • Managing queues and ensuring a smooth and efficient customer experience

  • Ensuring checkout staff are fully equipped and supported to perform their roles

  • Providing hands-on support on tills during peak trading periods

  • Supporting the customer service desk and store end of home delivery operations

  • Maintaining high standards of housekeeping and compliance with relevant legislation

  • Assisting with staff training, coaching, and ongoing development

  • Supporting the Store Manager and senior management team as required

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience supervising a checkout team in a retail grocery environment

  • Experience using till and cash register systems

  • Strong people management and leadership skills

  • Excellent communication, organisational, and multitasking abilities

  • Experience supporting staff training and development

  • Ability to remain calm under pressure while delivering excellent customer service

  • Flexibility to work early starts, late finishes, weekends, and public holidays

  • Fluent English, both written and spoken

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
